Band Bio

 NOW, LET’S MEET THOSE GUYS….

MARK COX

MARK COX plays bass guitar for THOSE GUYS, but is also skillful with both electric and acoustic guitars.  Mark, who is the youngest GUY, resides in Anderson with his wife, Angie, and a daughter.  He works as a Project Manager with Fluor Corporation in Greenville, SC.  The group’s gadget guru, Mark has found more ways to spend the band’s proceeds than you can shake a tambourine at!  But at his urging, the band’s equipment has grown technologically to meet the professional demands of this multi-talented band.  Mark’s hobbies include cycling, playing bass guitar for the church orchestra and enjoying get-togethers with his family.

DAVID GLYMPH

DAVID GLYMPH is the band’s drummer, which is irony in motion, because he is also one of its quietest members.  David, affectionately called “Boom Boom”, also adds vocals to the group’s songs.  David and wife, Katy, reside in Anderson, where they raise their three children.  David is a Vice President with AnMed Health and was a product of the Greenville, SC school systems until he learned that paradise was only 35 miles away in Anderson.  His hobbies revolve around family pursuits, including ball games, and church activities, which includes playing in the church orchestra.

STEVE ALEXANDER

STEVE ALEXANDER is the lead singer with the band and plays two musical instruments:  the tambourine and the maracas; three, if you count his vocal chords.  Steve and  wife, Nancy, reside in Anderson, SC.  They have two grown sons, who are married and live in the Anderson area, too.  Grandchildren number three now, with one more on the way!  Like many of THOSE GUYS, Steve got his start vocally singing in church.  Steve is a Project Manager with Duke Energy’s Oconee Nuclear Station in Seneca, SC.  His hobbies include golf, crossword and Sudoku puzzles, singing, writing, (www.silverfoxprose.com) and enjoying Clemson University sports, concerts and trips with his wife.

GARRY COLLINS

GARRY COLLINS plays rhythm guitar for the band and brings an amazing vocal range to the band’s harmonies.  Originally from Virginia, Garry got his singing start as a baritone with a church quartet when he was only fourteen.  Two years later, he got his first guitar and has since parlayed the three chords his father taught him into a splendid command of the instrument.  With probably the most interesting array of previous jobs, Garry spent a summer diving for golf balls, served as a law enforcement officer and presently is co-owner of M-K-T Auto Sales, Inc. (www.mktas.com) in the Anderson, SC area.  He resides in Anderson with his wife, Katrina, and their two children.  Garry lists spending time with his family, golf, hunting, fishing and, of course, music among his favorite pastimes.

BILL EDMONDS

BILL EDMONDS is our lead guitarist and high energy spokesman, but he also  adds solos and background vocals too.  Bill is the director of Merrill Lynch’s Columbia, SC complex and resides there with his wife, Becky, and their two children.  A son of a Baptist minister, Bill grew up in the Greenville, SC area, but spent much of his life living in the Anderson, SC area, where he met the rest of his band mates.  Church and family activities capture much of Bill’s time, but he does manage to get in some golf as well.

MIKE STRICKLAND

MIKE STRICKLAND is the consummate professional of THOSE GUYS.  Every band needs one!  If you count all the sounds he gets out of his keyboards (piano and organ), he really does play many instruments.  Mike’s love of music can be traced back to his high school days, when he played with a band called the “Nurks”.  He brings a wealth of musical knowledge to our arrangements and is the musical conscience of THOSE GUYS.  Although Mike has lived other places, he is a born and bred Andersonian and lives there now with his wife.  They have one married daughter who presently resides in the Columbia, SC area.  Mike is a grants manager with Clemson University’s Office of Sponsored Programs.  Music is Mike’s main diversion and he still gets together with some of his old Nurks’ band mates occasionally, in addition to his participation with THOSE GUYS.  His interests include occasional trips with friends, when he and wife Betty are not burning up the road between Anderson and Columbia, visiting their daughter and son-in-law.

Wide-ranging could explain the musical repertoire of…

THOSE GUYS

But it also defines where THOSE GUYS might show up to do their stuff.  We keep extending our boundaries.  THOSE GUYS have performed from Augusta, GA to Greenville, SC; from Charlotte, NC to La Grange, GA; from Simpsonville, SC to Athens, GA.  We’ve performed in country clubs and in barns, private homes and restaurants, in civic centers and on the back of flatbed trucks.  We provide entertainment for wedding receptions and rehearsal parties, high school reunions, staff and birthday parties, Christmas parties and get-togethers within subdivisions (block parties); we’ve played for dance clubs and for senior groups, fundraisers and political functions.  Whatever the occasion, let THOSE GUYS provide the uniquely festive environment that only a live band can deliver!

Want to have a ball?… Bottom Line:

THOSE GUYS’ shows and parties are fun and entertaining.  Whether you’re a dancer or just want to sit and listen to some golden oldies, THOSE GUYS will fill your night with wonderful memories.  No matter if you prefer beach music, Motown or just a good love song, you’ll likely hear one of your favorites at a THOSE GUYS show.  If your event is black tie, or just black boots, THOSE GUYS will not only fit in, they will treat your guests to the best time they’ve had in years.  THOSE GUYS can be reached via email, through their website, www.thoseguys.info, or through the following telephone numbers:
